Isothermal Semibatch Reactors: Example Problem

Try to solve these problems before watching the solutions in the screencasts.

Example Problem 1

In a semibatch reactor, we have the following mixed-phase reaction:
A(liq) + H2 → P(liq).
Determine the time to reach 80% conversion and flow of reactant as a function of time given these operating conditions:
Pressure = 3 bar, NA0 = 150 mol, -rA = kCAPH2, k = 0.0074 bar-1 min-1

Example Problem 2

A catalytic reaction takes place in the liquid phase of an isothermal semibatch reactor:
     A → C     rA = -CACB     k = 0.25 L/(mol min)
Initially the reactor contains 2700 L of a solution whose concentration of A is 20. mol/L. The concentration of catalyst B in the reactor initially is zero. Starting at t = 0, a solution containing 0.05 mol/L of B is fed to the reactor at a flow rate of 12.5 L/min. How many moles of product C are in the reactor after 200 min?
