Modeling and Similitude: Summary
The answers to the ConcepTests are given below and will open in a separate window.
Key point from this module:
Experiments using models must be thoughtfully designed to maintain similitude with the prototype. This means that the experiment is conducted such that all of the \(\Pi\)-terms have the same value.
From studying this module, you should now be able to:
- Determine the experimental conditions necessary to achieve similitude between the model and the prototype.
- Scale experimental results using a model to a full-scale prototype.
