Thermodynamic Properties Phase Diagrams: Example Problems

Try to solve these problems before watching the solutions in the screencasts.

Example Problem 1

Liquid water at 30-bar pressure and 200°C enters a nozzle (ΔH =0). It exits at 50°C. Use a P-H diagram to determine its pressure and quality.

Example Problem 2

Steam at 5-MPa pressure and 350degC is fed to a reversible adiabatic turbine. The outlet pressure is 0.5 MPa. Use a T-S diagram to determine the quality of the outlet and the enthalpy change through the turbine.
