Properties of Fluids: Example Problems
Try to solve these problems before watching the solutions in the screencasts.
Example Problem 1
Consider a container of heavy cream which has a density of 1005 kg/m3. If we whip the cream to three times its volume, what is the specific gravity and specific weight of the whipped cream?
Example Problem 2
Calculate the diameter of a capillary tube that is six inches long if you want the fluid to rise to the top of the tube. Assume the fluid is water with a surface tension of 0.0728 N/m, specific weight of 9.789 kN/m3, and a contact angle of zero degrees.
